Bill Douglas was born 90 years ago on 17th April. To mark what would have been his birthday we are screening the new documentary about his life and his great collaboration with Peter Jewell, Bill Douglas My Best Friend, in collaboration with our friends at Exeter Phoenix on Saturday 20th April at 2pm. You can book here

Bill Douglas, My Best Friend was shown at the Venice and Glasgow Film Festivals. It was produced by Hopscotch Films and directed by Jack Archer. It looks at the great friendship between Bill and Peter Jewell and includes interviews with contemporary filmmakers such as Lynne Ramsay and Lenny Abrahamson about the impact of Bill's work on them. The film includes excerpts from the home movies that Bill and Peter made between 1966-69. A full screening of many of these films will also take place at the opening night of the Glasgow Short Film Festival on 20th March.

We hope to be able to show a couple of the home movies in support and the film will be introduced by Peter Jewell and the Curator of The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, Phil Wickham. We look forward to seeing you there!
